VANCOUVER ISLAND 2018

SUSAN AND NORMAN
ON VANCOUVER ISLAND 2018

Norman and I arrive in Victoria, at Roseberry Avenue, where we always receive a warm welcome from Cousins Doshu and Soshin. And the cats.

Mr. Bingley is out in his hunting grounds, the backyard.

Colonel Brandon stays in and keep an eye on the neighbourhood.

Around and about the house....Soshin has decided to have a good clearout of stuff in the garden, including the many many pots beneath the deck.

Home

Many of them came from her dad's garden

I find the brass pots especially intriguing

Home

even more, the brass birds

the view from under the deck

Seems there's a plethora of other wildlife on Roseberry, including multitudes of deer, happily scavenging all the gardens.

So now, time to head up to the wilds of up island. We have rented a cottage near Saratoga Beach, between Courtenay and Campbell River.

First outing, off to Strathcona Provincial Park for a fine rainy day hike.

More wildlife. More warnings.

Of course Norman finds blackberries. Lots of them. (There were more.)

Tide coming in....

Creeping up pretty fast, actually, because the beach is so flat.

Doshu and Norman decide it's fishing day, out in the bay. I go along for ballast.

some of the wildlife in the bay.

Note the leaping fish! I didn't see it until weeks later.
